ヴァラナシのSankat Mochan寺院とヴァラナシ・カント駅の３箇所（駅内２箇所）で爆発があり，河岸のガートの近くで爆弾が２個発見されたそうです．少なくとも２１人の死者が確認され，６２人以上の負傷者が出ています．
Sankat Mochan寺院は，ヴァラナシで２番目に大きな寺院で，爆発があった時はハヌマーン神を礼拝する信者たちで混み合っていたらしい．

Varanasi: Three bomb explosions ripped through this holy city, killing at least 21 persons and injuring 62 others at a crowded temple and a railway station.
The police found two other bombs near the city's main cremation site on the banks of the Ganga.
Immediately after the blasts, the police were put on high alert in several parts of the country and security was stepped up at places of worship, vital installations and government buildings.

The first blast took place inside the Sankat Mochan temple adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. The bomb went off around 6.30 p.m. when the temple was teeming with devotees during the evening pooja. An eyewitness said a marriage ceremony was in progress at the temple.
``The blast was so powerful that it could be heard across the town ... we have moved five or six badly-burned dead,'' he said.
``Everyone was running. There were corpses lying around,'' another witness told a television news channel. ``There was almost a stampede.''
Rescue workers struggled in the city's narrow lanes to cart out the victims, said the people on the scene.
Minutes later, another bomb went off in the holding area of platform one of the Cantonment railway station.
The third blast occurred in a crowded coach of the Shiv Ganga Express just before it was to leave for New Delhi. The compartment was packed with people going on vacation ahead of the Holi.
An official said 10 persons died at the temple and 11 at the railway station. Eight of them were women, he said.
``We are counting the bodies as they are coming in. There is confusion everywhere and all I can say of now is that three of the eight are young girls,'' he told AFP by telephone.
Around 62 people were injured, some in critical condition, he said.
Kalam appeals for calm
President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam condemned the blasts and appealed for calm and peace.
A Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said the President condoled the loss of lives and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families.
He wished the injured speedy recovery.
``The President is sure that the State Government is taking all possible steps to help the victims and to maintain peace there,'' he said.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi said the incidents were ``mindless acts of terrorism'' and expressed her deep concern and anguish at the loss of lives.
Ex gratia
A red alert has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav announced an ex gratia relief for the victims and appealed to the people to maintain peace and order.
In a statement in Lucknow, he said the culprits would not be spared. ``Stern action will be initiated against all those found involved in the incident.''
He announced an ex gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to those killed in the blasts, Rs. 1 lakh to those seriously injured and Rs. 50,000 to those with minor injuries.
Patrolling has been intensified throughout the State, especially in those areas where communal clashes took place last Friday. — PTI, UNI

VARANASI/LUCKNOW: In an outrageous serial terrorist strike on the holy city of Varanasi, the ancient Sankat Mochan temple packed with Tuesday worshippers of Lord Hanuman was rocked by a huge blast and two bombs exploded soon after at a nearby train station, leaving a total of 16 people dead.
Although no group was blamed officially, sources said the attacks bore hallmarks of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. With the DM and the SSP on leave, there was no one to give the exact figures of the dead and injured.
The home ministry in New Delhi immediately put out a code red national terror alert and rushed police to sensitive areas and high-profile temples in Delhi, the Raghunath temple in Jammu, the Akshardham temple complex in Gujarat, several places in Mumbai and in holy cities like Hardwar and Somnath. Hundreds of additional security forces were sent to UP.
Worried about the horrible consequences of a communal backlash, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called for calm and Congress president Sonia Gandhi flew to Varanasi with home minister Shivraj Patil on a special plane.
The attack saw the Central agencies pointing fingers at the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh for ignoring intelligence alerts in the aftermath of the attack on Ayodhya by a gang of jehadis belonging to LeT or the Jaish. The advisory pertained to religious places in Varanasi, besides Mathura and Hardwar.
The assault on Varanasi, regarded by many as the most sacred seat of Hinduism, began with a huge explosion at the Sankat Mochan temple — the city’s second biggest temple — around 6.20 pm, the peak aarti hour on Tuesday. At least 10 people were killed inside the temple as traumatised worshippers rushed to organise relief and get ambulances into the narrow alley lined with shops.
Within 20 minutes two bombs had gone off at the Varanasi Cantt station — one outside the waiting room on platform one and the other near the inquiry office. Six people were killed at the station and a total of more than 30 injured from all the blasts.
The blast caused a two-foot-deep crater on the platform. Its impact threw body parts up to the almost 25-foot-high ceiling.
The toll is likely to go up. A GRP constable, VN Singh, who was on duty said he saw four bodies outside the waiting room. Another railway official said that he had rushed 25 seriously injured to hospital. The injured included the tourist reception officer Uma Shankar and tourist constable O P Singh.
